This film series explores many aspects of our society. To rethink what is possible in our world, we need to consider what kind of world we want to live in. Although we refer to it as civilization, it is anything but civilized. Visions of global unity & fellowship have long inspired humanity, yet the social arrangements up to the present have largely failed to produce a peaceful and productive world. While we appear to be technically advanced, our values and behaviors are not. The possibility of an optimistic future is in stark contrast to our current social, economic, and environmental dilemmas. The Choice Is Ours includes interviews with notable scientists, media professionals, authors, and other thinkers exploring the difficulties we face.

Part I provides an introduction and overview of cultural & environmental conditions that are untenable for a sustainable world civilization. It explores the determinants of behavior to dispel the myth of “human nature”, while demonstrating how environment shapes behavior. The science of behavior is an important – yet largely missing – ingredient in our culture.

Part II questions the values, behaviors, and consequences of our social structures, and illustrates how our global monetary system is obsolete and increasingly insufficient to meet the needs of most people. Critical consideration of the banking, media, and criminal justice systems reveals these institutions for what they really are: tools of social control managed by the established political and economic elite. If we stay the present course, the familiar cycles of crime, economic booms & busts, war, and further environmental destruction are inevitable.

Part III explains the methods and potential of science. It proposes solutions that we can apply at present to eliminate the use of non-renewable sources of energy. It depicts the vision of The Venus Project to build an entirely new world from the ground up: a “redesign of the culture”, where all enjoy a high standard of living, free of servitude and debt, while also protecting the environment.

Part IV explains how it is not just architecture and a social structure that is in desperate need of change, but our values which have been handed down from centuries ago. They too need to be updated to our technological age, which has the potential to eliminate our scarcity-driven societies of today. Our problems are mostly of our own making, but we can still turn things around before the point of no return. It’s not too late for an optimistic outlook on the fantastic possibilities that lie before us.

*special thanks also to Alexander “Obraz” … who created the many 2d motion depictions (plus the sound fx!) of concepts such as the “hamburgers and fried chicken” segment and many others which are Alexander’s inimitable work style and atteniton to details where we needed very specific illustrations of key points.

The Venus Project proposes an alternative vision of what the future can be if we apply what we already know in order to achieve a sustainable new world civilization. It calls for a straightforward redesign of our culture in which the age-old inadequacies of war, poverty, hunger, debt and unnecessary human suffering are viewed not only as avoidable, but as totally unacceptable. Anything less will result in a continuation of the same catalog of problems inherent in today’s world.

why would the rich build the better world for everyone? They already live the dream and they feel superior over other who are poor. Rich people will never allow this to happen. Therefor engineers and scientists must at first take away all the power, influence from those few corrupted ones.

    great use of internet

One guy looks like Jacque Fresco but younger in the public where TVP is. Is it his son or somebody who looks like him who went there? The ressemblance is funny!

"I want whats mine. I paid for it. I work 12 hours a day 6 days a week. You want me to share my paycheck for the benefit of the "Group"? " What will Venus Project do with greedy people? They would be excluded. If you do not agree, you do not get in. This is the Same thing, just a Different "ism".

I think low self esteem is also mas downfall….

  • wormwood 999

ha ha ha , that's why they keep bringing out movies against robots…. cos it might actually work, and makes the globalists redundant!?

Wouldn't the greed of the future be "location"? What if you're born into a region that is cold and you want to live in the tropics? Now a thought would be allocation of people and allow for region transfers, yet if all the people in the world want to live in one region obviously we can't all live in one spot due to a lack of space…

A project like this wont be possible without a couple of major catastrophes in the world. But as majority of people I admire his work.

"The Choice is ours" Good concept of how it could be if everyone changed
their mindset. If everyone worked in harmony and shared equally. I like
some of the ideas but others not so much. Computers in charge of
everything. Yea sure someday it may come to that, even soon. (maybe) I
have seen enough horror A.I. movies that the idea of EVERYTHING
controlled by computers is not sold on me. No choice would be ours then.
Another issue I had was at 1:28:31 and on wards. No emotions? Why not just become the computers
ourselves? Take away emotions and the idea of conscious and what are we
then? Asleep? I don't know. I get the concept, but a world with no LOVE is not
my idea of any kind of future that I want. Some emotions we could do without, but our
emotions are human and I am not sure how you could begin to remove that
part of humanity. Genetic altering? Brainwashing? Do they just become
outdated once we have everything we could possibly need? Yes I enjoy the
whole idea of every person having equal rights, food, shelter,
education, medical so on. I'd love a world we did not rape or poison for profit or greed.
Sounds great and these ideas are good starting points. More people
should contemplate a better future for all of the world. It just seems to
me that to even conceive of the idea of a better future for all mankind, to take
the time to make models, draw and plan designs, study the needed aspects
and even put part of the concept into reality in his buildings had to stem from some level
of love deep inside. It looks like it was a lifelong obsession in the making. That
takes love and dedication. When I ponder such things it is out of the love I have for my
children, their futures and for the people around me, as well as the earth itself. I cant see
this ever coming about in any realistic way without love. Without some major disaster the
likes that humankind has ever seen and practically being forced into it from necessity, Love
is one of the only forces I could see ever bringing us together. Call it whatever you like it does
not change the emotion. Great Ideas no doubt, fantastic architectural design.
Its full of interesting ideas all around.

You are wrong with regard to environment/upbringing versus genetic predisposition. For example, contrary to popular ignorance the defining characteristic of a psychopath is not crazy/insane. A psychopath's defining characteristic is the inability to feel empathy for others, a behavioral component that can be clearly seen and accurately predicted from a brain scan. A psychopath will effect great harm on other individuals as well as society in general because simply do not care. Like it's said not all psychopaths are serial killers, but all serial killers are psychopaths.

So whats the incentive for anyone to work? I'll just wake up every day in my free house and eat my free food. Then probably jump in my free ferrari and head over to my free boat and do some sailing all day.

kudos to Roxanne Meadows who did much to produce this very fine, informative and inspirational film. but the venus project puts why too much faith and dependence on science and technology. its science and technology that created our present police state… SO BEWARE… I think the venus project and equalism (see below) would make a very good combination.. in fact 90% of your film IS describing equalism… check it out. the oppressed need to unite BEFORE any constructive change can take place. thanks again for the video.
