    I like a great lot of what Noam says but I think he is throwing around the word "monopoly" a great lot more than would make sense. Perhaps it is just to make a point by making broad statements like that but it is unfortunately on the cost of accuracy.

    Chomsky can only sell his books and command high speaking fees by being a contrarian. If he tells people what they intuitively know to be true, then theres no sales angle.

    What Chomsky is describing at about 13:20 is called Brownfield investment and it's actually considered an investment strategy and not a subsidy, though that's exactly what privatizing a highway means.
