I thought I found the right netbook with the 1005HA but then I noticed the mouse pad has small dimples on it. I have sensitive finger tips and that forced me to not buy the item. I am very dissappointed that ASUS would do this. I don’t reckon none of the other brands have this. Really screwed up my mind; the mouse pad is too vital to not be completely pleased with the feel.

  2. Receive a box with packing material! It arrived my daughter wrapped it and my youngest daughter opened it on Xmas day and was heartbroken… fantastic small machine if you receive it… no more huge ticket items will ever be ordered from amazon in our family.Major disappointment… no follow up from customer service…. this is not ok.

Buy this (or any other) Asus product at your own risk. I bought a 1005HA PC in September that worked fine until the AC adapter stopped working in early November. When I contacted the company, I was told that they were out of that part but they should be able to send me a replacement by the end of the month. The end of November came and went, but the company still was unable to tell me if/when they would be receiving the adapters from their supplier. Despite the fact that the PC is now as useless as the box in which it came without the ability to charge the battery, Asus has refused to do anything to resolve this problem – or give my any timeframe within which I can expect a solution. If you choose to buy one of these PC’s from Asus, then only do it if you are comfortable knowing that if you have any problems, your Asus warranty isn’t worth the paper it is printed on.

  4. Two weeks in and the AC adapter failed. Very widespread issue, and ASUS has no replacements in stock. 2-4 weeks for a new adapter under warranty.

The is my 3rd EEEPC Product. Very poor QA. I won’t buy another ASUS product.

Nice hardware, but I won’t buy this w/ Windows 7.

Windows 7 Starter is a very restrictive operating system and provides very limited productivity capability beyond web-based usage out of the box. This means I am handicapped when using this device. In order to have a productive environment, I will need to spend hundreds of additional dollars on software like MS Office.

I want this netbook sold w/ Linux so I can use the full set of free productivity apps (office, image editing, multimedia, etc). This will unlock the full potential of this device, and allow me to get the most out of it.

Why is this hardware not available with Linux pre-installed? I am forced to look to other vendors, like Dell, for a netbook with Linux.
